Hailing from Beaver, West Virginia, Emma Allen is a saxophonist studying at Michigan State University under Professor Joseph Lulloff. There, she was the soprano chair of the Ivy Quartet, and she is currently the alto chair of the Lono Quartet. This ensemble is participating in many performances and competitions right now!
Emma graduated high school from Interlochen Arts Academy, an arts boarding school in northern Michigan. There, she participated in a reed quintet, a saxophone duo, worked with student composers, and performed with the IAA Band and Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Matthew Schlomer. Preceding her time at IAA, Emma studied under Dr. Jeff Siegfried, Dr. Robert Young, and her grandfather, Dr. William Allen.
Emma has performed in masterclasses for Timothy McAllister, Carrie Koffman, Otis Murphy, Matthew Tracy, Connor Mikula, Stephen Page, Nathan Mertens, and Kenta Saito, and she has attended many summer intensives over the years. These include the Great Plains Saxophone Institute and Workshop, the Interlochen Arts Camp and Intensive, and the Indiana University Summer Saxophone Academy.
